I used to be one. They don't have the status of say a soldier, fireman or a policeman. But they perform an important function. Can you imagine if garbage pick-up was halted for one month in your community? Do you ever wave or say hi to your garbage man? Do you ever even see them. Are they not unsung heroes?

jmk jenmarie, you're my kinda woman but kind of coldhearted. Those guys are there everyday without fail at sunrise. No matter what the weather you can count on them. People put piles of bricks in those garbage cans sometimes. Before I was fired, last week, I was working in 105 degree fahrenheit heat. Come on I don't want a medal, but how 'bout a thumbs up now and then?

I agree. They are looked down on but lets be realistic, if the hair salons shut down for a week, we would survive, the stores shut down, we would service, if the busy body execs of some corporations missed work, we wouldn't miss them, but a couple days without trash pickup, and you have a mess that is not only an eyesore but a health hazard. Without the garbage man, we would all be living in a dump.

Yes, I think they have a crappy, underpaid, underappreciated job. one time we went fishing and put fish guts in the trash and it was hot and a few days before pickup day and I felt so bad I ran out to apologize on trash day. I have some friends who do this job and say the do come across some treasures sometimes though. It would sure suck if we didn't have you guys!

unsure I even have heard of sanitation engineers in the past, i think of that's merely made as much as glorify the activity. As for environmental and civil engineers, environmental engineers are in contact in sustainable recommendations i.e. wind farms, sustainable shape. Civil engineers are in contact interior the layout and shape of homes. the two require stages, in assessment to rubbish adult men.

Um I appreciate the service he provides..however I pay for that service. Its a sucky job and I wouldn't want to do it, but there are a lot of jobs out there that suck..I have one....and if you get paid to do it and you're not risking your life to do it...then you really aren't a hero. Sorry. Good job on the garbage, but if you want a medal you're going to have to step it up.

I so agree with you ,there are several jobs on this planet,
where we don't keep so much attention how & who is taken
care of it!
I better not think about it ,if it would be a month,
and I hope it's never gonna happen!
