I am schelduled for a Cystoscopy , it will be done in the Doctors office . Is this Painful? I am just kinda scared.

I have a condition called interstitial cystitis and I found this procedure to be extremely painful. I have a high threshhold for pain, and I cried. They use topical gel for numbing your urethra which did nothing for me. The insertion of the cath was horrible. Then they fill your bladder up with water which I found unbearable. Then they drain half the water out to send to the lab. The cath is quickly pulled out and you have to run for the bathroom and cry while it hurts to pee. My doc gave me Pyridium and antibiotics afterward. It was pure H*LL. Good luck. Maybe because of my condition, it was worse for me.

A cystoscopy is a procedure where they insert a scope into your urethra and into your bladder as I'm sure your physician explained to you. Sometimes there can be a little pressure and discomfort, but the procedure does not take very long and is over with very quickly. You might also have some blood in your urine for the next couple of times that you have to go to the bathroom. Usually there are no complications from this procedure. Your doctor should be able to answer any of your questions about this procedure that you may have.
