Can I Issue a Check to be paid in Canadian Dollars by living outside of USA, but by holding an account in USA?

I live outside of U.S.A. (in Venezuela) although I have a personal
checking banking account in US Dollars in States.
I need to make a check to be paid in Canadian Dollars,
but I am not sure whether I can do it or
how can I do it?

Can I directly send out a check from my bank account to the
recipient to be payable to? And that's it for me...
Or Not?

In Venezuela, the Government is wrong and wants
to control everything. Inclusively, the people's
finance and life. A Cuban-like Style.

How can I do?
Any Idea?

I just need that the check can be charged
by the recipient (who is payable to) in
Canadian Dollars. He/She can get the
money.

You'll need to purchase an international money order, payable in Canadian dollars. Checks drawn on US banks can only be paid in US dollars.

You might be able to send your Canadian contact a check payable in US dollars that they might be able to convert at their own bank but the fees will likely be rather high for that.

There might be another way, though. Look into PayPal. I know for a fact that you can send payments to Canada in Canadian dollars from a US dollar based PayPal account. I've done it a number of times, and the fees are very low!

I have written cheques drawn on my Canadian bank but payable in American dollars.
Depending on your bank, you should be able to write a cheque drawn on an American bank that is payable in Canadian dollars. The banks will figure out the exchange.
