I think it tranlates in print better. That may stem from the "golden age" of comics. Or maybe it makes the character more mysterious. Or could just be coincidence.

Good question.
I would like to believe its for some complex reason like: Many of the icon superheroes (Batman, Superman) were created in the 1930 and used in many anti-Nazis propaganda media. Of course the Nazis respected the blonde-hair blue-eyed "Aryan" stereotype so naturally any anti-Nazi figure would have darker hair.
BUT.....I am more likely to believe that many superheroes have darker hair simply because its harder and more expensive to draw lighter hair colors.

Because it's easier to paint dark hair for a comic than light hair.
