American isn't that dumb because if we were then several parts of the world wouldn't be asking for our help to get them on there feet and help them out of there trouble.

Not the dumbest but not the best educated either. The sad truth is the billions upon billions of dollars spent on other countries actually belongs to the individual states. Just think of all the good that could be done right here in our own country including having the most proficient educational system in the world. The president stated we need to better educate our children to keep our competitive edge. I think he should put his money where his mouth is. A viable third and fourth party are needed more now than ever in our history.

People do not take responsibility for themselves. People in America expect that they will win the lottery, marry rich, become a rock star, sports star, etc and that they don't actually need an education.
Parents should be more involved with their child's education. So they can learn things like how to spell. There should be smaller class sizes so that teachers can give more personal attention to their students. Our teachers should get paid more but they should also earn that better pay. Remember just because someone is a teacher does not mean they are effective.
Students should take more pride in their education. Learning is not dumb or nerdy or geeky. Learning makes you smarter, helps you go farther in life, make you more interesting.
American's are dumber because they don't take the time to become smarter.

Good question. Even though we live in a country where we have freedom of speech, the media is owned and controlled by certain groups. So the information we get about foreign countries specially Israel, Palestinians, Lebonon, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, is 80% revised, lied, not told, or simply there was no interest to report. Watch world news from other countries, not just CNN and FOX.

I totally disagree with the fact that it's out schools. It's not the fault of the public schools that recieve less funding than private schools. As long as we continue to have a president like bush, and we elect senators who stand on his platform, and are like him public schools will be stuck in the same timeframe they've been in for the past 10 years. It is our brainwashing media. Kids my age (teens) find a greater importance placed on clothing and music rather than education. I understand why. Everything, other than education is glamourized in the media eye. America is certainly a country built on publication, and "denial of the geeks". Excellent country but on a rapid decline.

"dummest" that's funny. Joking right? Playtoofast 1/3 of all Americans are illiterate., where did you get that? Seriously, that is a crazy number to throw out. I'm sure there are few people that illiterate, but 33%, I doubt it.

We're not dumb, look at the immigration level, look at the countless people that want to attend our universities. If you're not happy in America, you should do us all a favor and leave.
Now the media...that's a whole other subject. I hate that some people in other countries think that people like Bill O'Reilly represents everyone in America. his thought process should be stopped.

Actually its the brainwashing media and our schools in my opinion. In case of the media they just show you what they want you to see and lots of things are not shown. I don't rely on local media to get my news, i rely on more and bigger networks. i search a lot to understand everything, and to get both sides of the story. In other countries, school are more stricter then here. I visited a school in another country, where in order for students to graduate from high school, they have to pass government tests in their senior year. And what they study is something that will benefit them in their life. SO each student studies what he deserves and they study something that ranges with their level.

American’s certainly aren’t the dumbest people in the world. If we were then we certainly wouldn’t be leading the world in substantial technological discoveries. We also wouldn't be the wealthiest nation on the planet. Just like on an individual basis, dumb people don't do this well in life.
