"He tells me when the microphone's on". Bush about Blair at Washington press briefing.
Wasn't that an inappropriate and insensitve remark at this troubled time, when we need strong leadership?

Peolpe make it sound like this was just two guys talking one on one. I think that Bush was at an official function as a representative of our country so yeah he should have been on his best behavior. Unfortunately that may be his best behavior. I mean really if you were sent to a dinner for your company and you made rude comments you would get in trouble right?

No it is not "inappropriate" may be a bit "insensitive" and crass, but it is a humorous self-efacing quip about the remark Bush made when he did not realize the mic was on some time back. Bush's humor is definatley yokel, but if you remember Regan's remark, "We've declaired the USSR illegal; the bombs will be falling in 10 minutes," it is the same kind of humor. A bit dark.

I doubt if anyting I will say is going to make a bit of difference, but while I do not like Mr. Bush's administration, he is just human. We get so tied up in our ideological positions that we seem to forget that we are ALL human.

"The campaign of 1984 also featured one of Reagan's most famous gaffes, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes", spoken as a sound check prior to a radio address. He was unaware that the joke would be heard by the public. [9] "

Our president is the leader of the slackers, what does he care? If he had the chance to run for office a third time, the idiot voters in this country would probably vote for him again, well, at least Texas, Florida, and Ohio, the rest of the states really don't matter!

I don't think so. This was a conversation between two heads of state who can speak freely to each other. There was really nothing wrong being said. What's the big deal all about?
