He's a plagiarist. While he calls it "homage" it's certainly plagiarism.
Seen Reservoir Dogs... watch City on Fire.
Seen Kill Bill.... watch virtually any hong kong kung fu flick from the 1970s and 1980s.
Fanboys think the sun shines out of his **** because they don't watch these rare films and sub-genres that he plagiarises.
And if anyone goes on about his "non-linear" storytelling like it's something new tell them to watch "Citizen Kane"

Two of Tarantino screenplays were out of his control - the first, "Natural Born Killers" was butchered by director Oliver Stone. The second, "True Romance" directed by Tony Scott had little input from Tarantino during production, but still turned out great. "Reservoir Dogs" was Tarantino's first totally Tarantino movie and has been rated in the top 100 movies of all time by several movie critics - and I agree. "Pulp Fiction" was the second all Tarantino movie and I admit to biased thoughts about it, because I consider it the best movie I've ever seen (at least 50 times). "Jackie Brown" the third Tarantino movie, was a slight let-down even though Samuel L. Jackson and Pam Grier were fantastic - the plot needed some work. And both "Kill Bill" movies produced excellent returns for the investment. So the answer to your question is . . . . No! Quentin Tarantino is not over-rated - he is a genius!

Quentin Tarantino rocks!! I love almost every one of his movies. Kill Bill vol. 1 was his best movie. Vol. 2 was good, too, but I liked 1 much better. I've seen Pulp Fiction a million times.

Funny how those who ask why people/things/etc. are overrated is primarily because they don't "get" the object of overrated-ness. Think about it. We always question the things we don't understand (which makes sense).
A lot of people don't "get" Tarantino because what he does is different, and not just different, but with a sense of "who cares" which, I think, tends to upset and/or confuse the people who don't "get" him even more. But what Tarantino seems to have been doing with his films, as tested by his audiences, is working.
I agree with what someone said earlier how nowadays, we as film-goers want to be entertained without thinking, completely losing touch with the whole point of the art of the motion picture.

No he is not over-rated. You probably don't understand the movies. They always have a deeper meaning than what's on top. You have to think a little bit instead of staring at the scree. Today people want to be entertained without thinking. We have become lazy and only want instant gratification. You're probably still a kid.

Tarantino is highly overrated, yes. I'm just not into movies about senseless violence unless they have a point.

He's only considered overrated by filmmakers what don't have his talent. The two examples you mentioned are two of the greatest films ever made.
