Do you think the price of downloads is too much? Would you be willing to buy if the downloads were sold by the artist themselves and not through the record company, so they recieve more of the profits and the money is spent on recording? It's just I can't see why an artist couldn't use their website to sell official mp3- this would help little known and also minor artists much more.
Also, can anyone explain why British downloads are more expensive than European ones?I can't see why at all.

I would also like to add that I've worked out it would cost me more on iTunes to download some albums I've bought in the shops. I also like some quite onscure stuff and have found it difficult to find the mp3 format.

i would still download all my music from places like limewire, why would anyone pay money, no matter how little when you could get the same thing for absolutley nothing?

It would be fantastic if money went straight to the artist, and maybe that will happen soon, once the artists themselves catch on to it. Then we wouldn't have any need for the useless thieves in the record companies!

Your question reminds me of a song. Did you ever hear Download this Song by MC Lars?
But yes i agree with you. If the artist was promoting the song I'd buy so long as the proceeds to them.

You should really listen to that song. It's catchy!!(",)

iTunes is quite cheap - 79p per song, and £7.99 per album (unless it's more than one disc).
