I was thinking about getting the Om (Aum) symbol as a tattoo on my right shoulder blade.

What do you think? Should I get it?

If you think it is what you want then go ahead and do it.

Don't do it to please anyone, because you'll be stuck with it for the rest of your life.
Sure it it possible to have it removed, its just that getting one removed is a world of PAIN,... I'm not kidding. It hurts more to take one off than it is to put one on, now isn't that ironic.

Do you like to lay out in the sun, you know get a tan? if so then you might like to just stick with the temporary tattoos - the kind you put on little kids or use a marker and make your own temporary tattoos. Well its because Sun Bathing and Tattoos don't go well together, if you were to consult a dermatologist she/he will advise that your tattoo will start to blurr as time goes by because it is your body defending itself from the suns damaging effects. In about five to ten years that lovely tattoo will turn into a blotchy glob of such hideousness,.... well you get the idea, you might like to cover your tattoos with super sun block or better yet cover it up so it doesn't go bad, Big band-aids are best (you can draw and write graffiti on them for fun to hide the fact that you're looking after your investment). It all depends on your metabolism really. But its an unavoidable fact, sun and tattoos don't go together.

Good luck
Do it, if you're certain it will give you personal fulfillment. But remember its like having a pet, you will have responsibilities to look after it, or else, . . . . After all it is your money that you're spending.

It's OK. I personally would love to get some big intricate tattoos, but if a simpler design has meaning to you and makes you feel good, that's cool, too. It has an interesting design, as well as a spiritual vibe. Plus, it's not as played-out as some symbols, though it is getting a little more popular with the rise of yoga and meditation. But awareness is also cool.

Great sounds like another Asian inspired tattoo that the ladies nowadays seem to like. I wonder if the Asian ladies are walking around with English symbols (letters) on their bodies?? I doubt it, for only in America would we put foreign letters/symbols on our bodies and then complain about illegal aliens. If you insist on getting a tattoo go for it, beware of the intense PAIN that you will suffer when getting it., I am just kidding of course now you really never know. Good luck

if U like it then get it, it really shouldn't matter what other think. U may want to think about one thing though, if U get a small tattoo on a place like your back or arms, and later U want to get a large one in one of those places, it will be hard to work around and cover ups never look good either. make sure wherever U put the tattoo on your body is not a place you might want to get a bigger one later in life.

Why do you like to torture yourself?
What do you want to proove with a "tattoo" on your skin?
Why do you think that you look "better" with a "draw" on your skin?
Why are you trying to "improve" Mother Nature's creation?
What do you know about the complexity of the human skin?
Are you aware of the consequences (and the risks) of the tattoos,
over your skin, on long term?
Please visit a dermatologist expert, before letting others to steal your
natural beauty; and, maybe, your skin's health.

Tattoos do not cause cancer, despite what the quack above said. That tattoo is a bit overdone though. Usually done by people who want to prove to everybody that they're super-openminded.

Go for it. Everyone needs a first tattoo. Can't wait for my first! As for the design, who cares what other people think, all that matters is that you like it.
