will a pitcher ever win the MVP award ever again?? I know they have the Cy Young, but if he dominates the league he shouldn't he be able to win the MVP award too?

Perdo Martinez got snubbed a few years back, and alot of voters admitted not voting for him cuz he was a pitcher..

Hasn't been a pitcher MVP since 1992 will anyone ever win it again??

Someone will win it sooner or later but they have to win 30 games and probably have an ERA of under 1 and lead the MLB in a lot of stats. They will probably have to play for the Yankees too.

We haven't had a pitcher win 25.
games in some time either. They have there own award but like Tom Seaver in 1969 winning 25 games and leading the NY mets To there first world series victory, I think it can happen But with the pitching water down from expansion only greatness and pitchers only going 6 and 7 innings it doesn't seem very likely

For a pitcher to win MVP he would have to have extremely overwhelming stats. Something like 25-3 2.25 ERA 200+ K's. AND there would have to be no positon player who was an "obvious choice".

BTW - Beckettgirl, Josh was the MVP of the World Series only... Not the regular season.

The last MVP pitcher should have been Ron Guidry in 1978.....we all know that the Red Sox had what a 13-16 game lead on the Yankees.......they brought in Bob Lemon to Manage them and they caught them.....if I remember right, the Sox "choked" so bad that they had to win something like the last 8 games just to get into the "Bucky Dent" game.....what does this have to do with MVP you ask?...Who was the MVP that year?.....Jim Rice!..they lost the lead with him on the team...they still would have lost it without him.....how does that make him an MVP?......Guidry was what.....25-3 or 4 that year?....where would they have been without him?......at home watching the series and Reggie would never have hit the 3 homers on 3 swings(that was 1978 right?).........just to "pacify" you stinkin' Red Sox Fans.......Yes, Papi should have been the MVP last year!!!!!!..without him they would not have won and the Yankees could have gotten where they got without ARod......HAPPY???.....stinkin' Sox!!!

If a pitcher wins over 20 games, eats up a bunch of innings (which helps the bull-pen stay fresher, and in turn helps the team immensely) and has an e.r.a. close to 2.00; then with out a doubt he should win MVP.

When you rely on your ace to get a crucial win during the season, or end a losing slump that your team is in... that's pretty damn valuable if you ask me.

1st of all, Beckett was the World Series MVP in 2003, not the NL MVP. Also, I think there are a number of pitchers on the rise that could do it. I think Liriano would be in the running for it this year and still could be if it wasn't for that dumbass Gardenhire using him out of the pen this year.

That'd be cool to see an MVP be a pitcher but I think he'd have to go 25-0 before even being considered for MVP.

only pitcher this year that has a SMALL chance at getting MVP is Fransico Liriano, 12-2, 2. somthing era, 120plus strikeouts, he'll have to win at least 20 games and strike out at least 250 batters and keep his era in the 2.something area.

If Eric Gagne didn't win it when he won the Cy Young Award in 2003, I don't know what other pitcher could.

No; the MLB has turned into a hitters' game. Unless the guy either plays a position when not pitching or tosses like 4 no-hitters in a year, it won't happen again anytime soon.
