there are always questions about the sexual orientation of any popular idol. The behavior and appearance(especially his close up smiley face) could obviously lead people to believe Spongebob to be gay. However since there has been no official word from the creators of the show, it means that they are just rumors

He might be, but it's cool because he doesn't go around flaunting it in other people's faces and making them take a stance on it one way or the other so that he can accuse them of being hate-mongers when they don't agree with his lifestyle. What Spongebob and Patrick do in the privacy of their own pineapple is none of my business.
