HP, Sony and Dell make the best pre-built systems, anything with 60+gb hard drive, 512mb RAM and a cd burner will work just fine.

Thats a pretty wide open question. You say money is no object, yet the things you say you will use it for, dont really require much out of the PC.

There is certainly no "best" desktop PC. It depends on what you will use it for.

Ffrom what you said you will use it for, I would go for a cheaper PC (unless money really is no object at all). I would say you could prolly get what you need for $600. (it could be gotten for much less - but if you dont know much about PC's -- it's better to go with something like a Dell or HP - they are very large and have customer service, etc.

Whatever you do -- DO NOT get an emaichine.

emachines are computers that are literally built out of 100% broken computer parts from other PC's , and then used to make the e-maichine. (They are ofocurse refurbished) -- not that I am against refurbished stuff -- its a great way to sove a good ammount of money. I buy refurbished stuff plenty -- like I bought a refurbished monitor, and printer. But when you start talking about building an entire PC out of this stuff, it's bad news.

Anyway - I would say go with Dell, or HP (compaq is owned by HP). YOu can prolly get what you want out of one of thier cheapest PC's - but if you dont care about cost -- go ahead an get a banging one. And make sure you get a warrenty and extra support if you think you'll need it.

Look on line for a good used computer from dell. Sometimes you can see Dell sell them for as low as $200 and still get the 512 MB RAM 2.0 Gig CPU which is plenty of speed for the Internet.

In the end it really depends on what you want it to do. If you are just gonna use it for Word, Internet, ect. Then you can get a $400 one from Wal-Mart. If you need a powerhouse gaming machine then the cheapest way would be for you to order the parts and have someone build it for you.

iMac! this is the BEST for teens! I'm 18 and I own an iMac G5, but the new iMacs are cool! it has exactly 3 USB ports! iTunes comes with it installed, and iPhoto does also. so, get a mac and make your kids happy! WEEEEEEE!

I like Dell. You can talk to them and they'll design what you want. If you want to let the kids play games on it, you'll need to not get the integrated graphics....I think that was it. Your kids probably know...I'm not much into gaming.

If price is no object...tell Dell they owe me a referral fee (just joking)

Processor at least 2.8ghz
You will need at least 1gb of ram 2 if you want to upgrade to Windows Vista.
I suggest at least 160gb hardrive and a 19" monitor.
