I just noticed that people tend to gravitate to the persons that are in trouble or looking for help.
It's as though the questions asked are to bring the best or the worst out of you.( it's our choice)
this answer thing is really a good barometer for human character building.

For the ones that are truly wanting an answer, "yes". There are a lot of people out there in "Yahoo Answers." Some wants attention, some just want to debate an issue, some are bored, and a lot are very lonely. When I ran across a question, that seems sincere about wanting advice, I usually get this feeling. These are the best ones. The answer actually writes its self. I can get so tuned into those people its pure cosmic "karma". I know for a fact that our answers have a effect on "some". I get lots of personnel emails from questioners, being truly appreciative. I also get lots personnel emails from readers who didn't ask a question, just ran across my answer, and they related to it and then share with me how it may them feel. That is a high that I can't even describe with words, its so wonderful knowing you made a difference for someone. Although we don't always get picked the best answer, does not mean that the answer we give, want help someone else, another person having a similar problem. I have no idea how many people actually participate in this forum. But I must tell you, there are lots more that just surf around looking for an answer for their situation. I am not really sure why they don't ask or answer questions, but they are out there. It has taught me to keep answering questions regardless of the thrill for the 10 points, (which is great fun) but for that one person it might be beneficial too.

Unless I know the reader in my personal life, there is no way of knowing how that person will be affected. But I try to make my answers meaningful and beneficial if the person is looking for some kind of help or clarity. And I usually try to have a sense of humor when I'm answering. I know I like it when people make me laugh at the answers to my questions.

I guess if you want a concrete answer on how impactful your questions are, you could see how many best answers you have and compare it other people. Although, I don't know what some people are thinking when they choose the best answer.

If they are wondering about a question that has an effect on them they have to be looking for an answer with sincerity. They need an effective answer so it's up to the answerer to create that. In my opinion my answers provide enough information for someone to pass it through their mind so it does have a true effect whether it's the best answer or not.

We're looking for all kinds of answers with different angles because we have an idea that needs a conclusion. I think everyone knows an answer to their question already but what they're looking for is something to compare, something conclusive to come up with the truth. More individual answers help to find that truth so every answer counts.

Good question! I hope my experience with some things will help someone. Then are times when I answer to get a quick 2 points.

There are pointless questions and there are serious questions. It is all up to the reader on whether they want to answer a question. There are people out there that want to help. There are people out there that want to annoy. And there are people out there that may just want to read a response to a question.

Me answering something could help someone whether they wanted the info. or not. There's always someone out there that has 'been there, done that' sorta thing.

I am not sure if my answers have an effect or not on others. I do usually asnwer as if they may. If a question is too personal, I don't answer it. However, I do get a lot of best answers, so maybe I am doing something right.

I certainly hope my answers are meaningful, even when the asker doesn't agree. The thought of teaching and/or helping out a bit is a big reason I bother with cutting through the adolescent behavior on this site.

I think most questions are asked by idiot children looking for attention. Most of their questions are nonsense and they are bored so they come here. Few people are helped because that is NOT why they come here in the first place. A few good questions here but precious few!

congrats to you for actually wanting to help people here
I am only here for the laughs

We all have a desire to be a hero. This format gives us the chance to share our failures and successes without exposing our weaknesses and venerability.
