so you could live close to your woman, but have some time away from her, would you be happier? your own t.v., your own stereo, bed, laundry, kitchen, etc. so you can do things the way YOU like, and she can still do her things her way, and not get so pissed at you for every little thing? God i cant ake it anymiore, I love her, but she lives to make me miserable, I am not that bad, but she makes me sound like a terrible Guy, It's to the point where i just want to pack up and leave, does that sound familiar to you?

I must say I am a pretty good cook, I take care of the garden, I buy better food than she does, I do brew my own beer, I have learned from my own experience not to be a slob, i like a clean living area, and I did all these things before I ever met her. I did not give her control, I am just much more patient than she is. I like to take care of her and see her happy, but she is just not seeing it.

Some of these answers are just to serious. What about a visitor about 2 AM when one gets really tired of not being able to turn over and snuggle into a warm body?

First of all, you should have some place in the house that is your retreat or 'man cave'. (I actually like Man Caves, they tend to have the best toys, fridge of beverages, comfy chairs, surround sound, XBox, and a great atmosphere.) There’s nothing wrong with unwinding for some alone time. (We do the same thing, bubble baths, spas, salons, a favorite quiet room and a book, etc.)
Second of all, you have an issue with her and communication and it seems likely that you know it. I find it unacceptable for women to “chase” their men out of their lives, and make them feel useless, etc. You’ve got to talk to her about it, as non-confrontational about it.
Which leads to the issue of… think about both of you in the relationship. She chases you away, but did you ever run away or ignore her when she had an important issue she had to discuss with you? Maybe you can create the room of your own personal space you need, and create another place for the two of you to come together once in a while and just talk. If she gets your attention during critical times, she’s likely to leave you alone during others, or at least not verbally attack you. (Not that it’s ever right to verbally attack someone.)
Something is wrong here though – your mate should be your best friend, the person you can’t wait to get home TO! (Trust me, there’s such a thing. :) ) Why is this not the case? Work with her to understand why she is so unhappy and if there are any reasonable things you can do to improve it because trust me, if she’s happy, you’re happy.

Dude... every guy needs some space to call his own. Even if it's just a corner of the garage. But your problem goes deeper than that. A long term relationship has to overcome this "my goals/your goals" kind of thing. You have to respect each other enough to both make accomodations.
It sounds like she is bent on controlling her environment (which means she has to control you within it). If that's true, it's because she feels out of control somewhere else (almost certainly inside herself). That's a really deep emotional issue. Trouble is, you've already established that she has the power to manipulate you. She uses her disapproval, anger (and sex?) to get what she wants. And it's worked.
You don't need an apartment. You need a new relationship.

If she's getting on your back THAT bad, there is a reason. And probably something to do with her, not you. Sit her down and ask her what the issue is.
When she says you never take out the garbage, ask her what the real freaking issue is. You shouldn't get YELLED at to take out the garbage, or to straighten a coffee table.
She's feeling neglected in someway. Find out what it is. Take a look at her mom too, it might be something that she just grew up with.
But yea, even the best of relationships have moments where you just want to go to your dog house.

Frankly, from the female perspective that sounds like a pretty good deal too. Just stay out of my fridge - you just know that the guys fridge would only have beer, a jar of mustard and some stale bread in it!
I think some separateness is good in a relationship - too much togetherness can be destructive. They are just there all the time.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF LOVING SOMEONE TOO MUCH FOR THEIR OWN GOOD?
sOUNDS TO ME IF YOUR ARE DRINKING TOO MUCH AND SHE OBJECTS ABOUT IT FOR SO LONG SHE IS CONCERNED WITH YOUR HEALTH ISSUES. i'VE BEEN STUDYING MEDICINE AND YOU WOULD BE SURPRISE WHAT IT SAYS ABOUT TOO MUCH ALCOHOL ON ONES
VEINS AND LITTLE GUY DOWN THERE (THE VEINS GETTING MESSED UP).
sOME GUYS GET EASILY PERSUADED AND MONKEY AROUND BY THEIR BROTHERS AND NOSEY FAMILY. FAMILY PUTS THEIR 2 CENTS IN WHERE IT DOESNT BELONG--THINK THEY CAN MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE MISERABLE AND YOU BREAK UP WITH THE WIFE. IT MAY EVEN BE DEEPER THAN THAT THEY JUST HATE WIFE FOR NO REASON AND WANT YOU TO BE MISERABLE BECAUSE REALLY THEY ARE JEALOUS OF YOU AND WHATEVER
YOU HAVE AND FAMILY MEMBER IS ENVYING.
MAYBE YOU ARE JUST TOO TOO YOUNG SELFISH IMATURE AND DONT KNOW HOW TO GET ALONG WITH YOUR BETTER HALF????
i DONT KNOW YOU DIDN'T SUPPLY MUCH INFO TO LET US TRULY KNOW YOU.

Nah, that would be no use, she would still find ways to nag you!
As long as you're attached to her by "committment", the living arrangements won't matter...
(Ideally, tho, the relationship shouldn't make you want to run for your life!)
