Yes, It was inevitable.

At least we got some good years in there, didn't we?
Every other nation has gone through that already.
Look at London and select parts of Europe with cameras (IR) placed in strategic places.

Oh Well

Probably. But we lag behind other "Free" countries like Great Britain which has had tons of cameras recording everything for years.

I guess that in this day and age it's unavoidable, but it does make one long for the relative freedom of the 50's-60's cold war. A person can't even do something silly or wild without it winding up on the internet these days

It absolutely, the government monitors phone calls, internet activity, credit card purchases... There are security cameras every where you look... Political correctness is just the politically correct word for censorship.

Completely, George Orwell was just a little premature...it should have been 2004 instead of 1984. Plus the control of the media has come true, "Eurasia are the enemy"...wait "Eurasia have become our allies"...oh wait "Eurasia has attacked us again". That part sounds a little too familiar!

Yep. It's not just the government that's snooping on citizens and putting policy before people. Corporations have been amassing huge amounts of data on consumers and are inundating us with marketing "double speak" all the time.

Many of our institutions seem very concerned with controlling what we think about and how we think about it. It looks like someone forgot that social institutions are supposed to help people, not harrass them.

I think so, but I've been to Europe, and there are cameras everywhere. So Big Brother lives there, not so in the U.S.A.

Sadly, yes. What is worse is that many Americans buy into it for the sake of "national security."
