Rest, healthy food and laughter are generally the best cures.

Cold medicine doesn't solve the problem, they simply make colds easier to live with.

Vitamin combinations are also know to help.

I'm afriad there are no really fast answers. Some day we might be able to cure in an hour, but not right now.

Sorry to hear about the cold; they can make you feel just rotten. I am just getting over one so I empathise with you.

Try lemonsip laced with a good measure of Malt whiskey and hot water. Suggested dose 2/3 times nightly until feeling better

You may not feel better straight away, but you'll certainly enjoy the experience. Oh! you just might suffer a thick head so adjust the dose accordingly. Slang!

You wont like it, but-

Eat a whole raw onion like an apple. Remove the skin first...

Your cold is blocking the tubes from the glands under your eyes, the same onion juice that makes your eyes leak when you chop it will make everything leak for about half an hour if you eat it whole. But the blockage will then be gone and you'll feel a whole lot better.

the only remedy that works(that I know of)is time. The body's immune system will make mincemeat (British saying)of the cold, in its own time. Meantime you need to make sure you are drinking lots of liquid and taking painkillers if necessary. Hope you get better soon!

Your body needs rest. That means 9hrs of sleep a night, no alcohol. Drink loads of water. I mean loads. Eat lots of fruit and veg and drink fruit juice. Have honey and lemon drinks, take paracetamol or ibuprofen to keep you feeling ok. If you are blowing your nose a lot then use vaseline to stop it getting too chafed.

I do 1,000 mgs of Vitamin C

I know junior doctors out there...
you're right...thats 5,000 mgs of Vitimin C daily.
And I do it for three days only - no more cold.
