the universe has no edge and no center, and the universe is finite. it seems to be something like the two-dimensional surface of a sphere, but it is four-dimensional. nothing exists "outside" the universe. to quote a dead writer, "there's no there, there".

There are a few theoriesas to how the universe will end, and a lot of the have been disscredited. The "Big Crunch" hypothesis argues that the gravitational mass of the universe will, sometime in the far future, counteract the inertia of the Big Bang, causing the universe to contract. Basically, the Big Bang in reverse. This hypothesis has been largley discredited by recent observations that the expantion of the universe is speeding up. Thus, a second- and personally more realistic- theory is formed. In this theory, the universe continues to expand a la Dark Energy or some function we currently don't understand.. and the Second Law of Thermodynamics brings the universe's energy into a state of equillibrium in which it is no longer useful. In this case, the universe doesn't actually end, but it mine as well.

The universe has no end and no center. Only finite things have an end and a center. The universe is infinite.

There's a sign there that says, "End of the Universe, Proceed at Your Own Risk"

No one who has gone past that sign has ever returned, so we don't know what's really out there. But some day there will be a movie about it, and then we'll know

The Universe? We don't even know if The Universe exists as we know it. Look up the many worlds theory.

Technically, it hasn't been proven that the universe is infinite (it is still a debateable topic). But for now, what we know as the 'universe' is merely referred to as the 'observable universe'. For now.... it would take ~78 billion light years to travel to the end of the 'observable universe'.

well it does not end. it is infinite. it is expanding now, will stop expanding later, and will explode. that is the end of the universe.
