My names Alexandra too!!! I'm in Power of the Pen. And i want to b a writer when i grow up. wow, you are actually writing a story, your basically living my dream.
Anyway, i should get to the point...
Write about something children love, thats the only way you can get them to actually read the book.
Alright things they love:
1. Pets
2. Candy
3. Toys
4. Imagination
5. Elmo (lol)
For example we can start w/Pets. So, if you're going to write about pets, what is an interesting pet to keep the reader intrigued throughout the story. lets see:
1.Hampster
2. Giraffe
3. Penguin
4. Starfish
5. Jellyfish(ouch)
Alright, i just got an idea. A child can be getting a pet, and they go to the pet store. Then their imagination takes over. And the pet store turns into another world. As the child walks through this other world, he finds all these interesting animals. He walks through the arctic, sees the penguin. walks through the savana, see the giraffe. so on and so forth. but in the end he settles for his favorite one of all the "hampster" who is the friendliest of all the animals. Then the story ends by the child getting the hampster and going home. and you can end it with that child going back to his imaginary world.

ok, its kinda weird. when i was little i always use to think of things like this. so maybe its just me thats weird. Anyway, good luck with your story and whichever idea you may use. I would definitely like to see this when you publish it!

Try connections writing. Write down 50 nouns on separate cards and put them in a hat. Close your eyes and draw out three. Then use these in your story. For full directions go to the url below and purchase the "Ideas Factory" workshop. It works. I have used it for several stories (and been paid for them).

Aligators. Kids love monsters. Also, I love silliness! I loved the Where's Waldo books, as well as the Richard Scarey books. Haven't seen much lately that's really good.

Good Luck

If you don't have any ideas, then you're not writing anything. If we helped you, you'd be profitting from our ideas. You may want to consider a career change.
