Yes, I believe. Something had to create the rules of the universe, and that something, for all intents and purposes is God. I have a very scientific mindset, and I cannot help but see the order and beauty of the physical universe and see a very clear plan behind it. Put simply, why does a book fall? Gravity. Why gravity? No matter how hard you try, there is never an ultimate answer, just another 'why?' in science. But some things are simply fundamentally true, and for those the only explanation is God (for example, why can't matter occupy two places at the same time?).
But I think your question was specifically asking how God could allow suffering in the world. The answer there is free will. If we were forced to do whatever God willed, then there could be no acts of grace, no moments of compassion, because all such acts would derive directly from God's will. Instead, we are given the gift of the opportunity to succeed or fail on our own merits, with God acting to uphold the soul through faith, rather than forcing a person to perform the right action. If some people turn away from grace and their fellow man, it is because they have turned away from God, not because God has turned away from them.

I definately believe in God. I attend a private Christian school. Nobody knows why the bad things happen in the world, but think about this. If a 10 year old boy gets hit by a drunk driver and dies, it sends out the message that we need to be more careful, and not get drunk. God is not a force or spirit, He is there. He always has been there and always will be there. I would recommend reading John 3:16 and Romans 8:28 in the NIV Bible. My 2 favorite verses. Email me back!!!

i do i believe in him and all the stuff that is happening to the world u know like the war and all the fires hurricanes and stuff like that u know in the Bible it says that in the Bible that when the world is going to end that there will be wars fires diseases that no one will find the cure for and u know all that is happening so i think that these are the times we should be closer to god because this was suppose to happen and the saddest part is that all these wars and other stuff would never happen if we all believed in him no matter which god if yave, Buddha, Allah, or whatever god ur religion has because every religion believes in peace(i hope)

If miracles happen then the believers claim that it is God. If it is bad then it is "God's will" and the humans are the bad guys.
Believers Wake up!
There was never anything that could proof that god exist. If he would exist then I would be disgusted because he let happen so many bad things on earth.
... but of course for the bad things are the humans on trial, and the good things are from God.
Believers are dreamers ....

When it comes to religion, I am a "negative nancy". I don't believe anything unless it can be logically or scientifically explained, and so far nothing proves that any god exists, and I have read all of the explanations for the creation of Earth, and agree with those beliefs over the spiritual ones.

I do, absolutely. there have been signs all around me my whole life. I have had little daily "miracles" ever since I can remember. I know that I feel full and happy because of Him, and feel very empty when I get too far away.
Besides that, look around you. Look at everything that had to happen for you to be here. That cannot be an accident. You were created with a specific purpose in mind, just like I was!

Absolutely not, if I were to believe in a God, I think the Native American Gods are much more appealing. Why would god just be a man? Come on, men destroy, they don't create!
