Supposedly more people voted to decide whether Taylor Hicks should win this televised singing contest than voted to decide who should be president. Would someone who voted for American Idol but did not vote for President please explain why you think the winner of American Idol affects your life more than who is the President. Obviously if you are too young to vote for President that is an excuse. But what about the rest of you?

I'm not an American; so, I don't have a say in either, but I am familiar with both parties involved in this dilemma, and can offer an explanation:

People are attracted to intelligent peers. Believe it or not, the American Idol performers possess more intelligence than many of the people who run America and many other countries as well.

Also, did Taylor Hicks make your cereal soggy this morning? Did he make the battery on your MP3 player die during your jog? Did Mr. Hicks make your shoelace come untied so that you trip on it during your jog? No, it was the top officials of the government. It's always their fault!

Because they're vote counts more in American Idol then it does compared to congressional votes, etc. Also, they may feel more responsibility towards the way things go, "well you voted for him." Whereas the worst Taylor Hicks could do is appear on a commercial. And I'm only speaking in conjecture, because I do not get involved in any political affairs, and that includes voting.

They don't 33.6 million people watch American idol. 121 million Americans voted in the last Presidential election. I would assume people who participate in an election care about who is president. Your question is a clever way to try and put down Americans. American Idol accepts votes Worldwide. Theoritically only Americans can vote in the presidential election. that's why the numbers may get skewed.

I don't think people "care" more about who becomes the next "American Idol" as they do about getting their vote in.

The vote on "AI" is by popular vote where your actual vote truly counts.

In our democratic system the popular vote does not count, it is the electoral vote that actually decides the winner of the presidential race.

I think in this day and age of technology people believe (as I do) that we should base the presidential winner on popular vote and do away with the electoral vote.

Well, you get to vote an unlimited amount of times on AI, where as you only get to vote once for President. I think that really skews the premise that more people voted for AI than President. We actually have no idea whether or not that is true.

Beause the choices were better for American Idol than they were for the presidency. Both choices weren't that great and we were voting for the lesser of two evils.

Does it matter though? For the electoral vote matters and not the popular vote.

finally, i don't care in spite of the shown fact that it would be extreme-high quality to make certain David cook dinner win. the two are stable, yet David cook dinner might desire to stroll away with the win. i can make certain him putting out respectable documents. Archeletta is extremely stable, yet too sluggish and sappy. it quite is redundant after awhile. infant Stuff
