Interesting stuff. I especially like the dichotomy of the impact of being misunderstood makes you feel AS IF you're going crazy... even though you're not. A clever way of verbalizing the isolation between people who feel as if they can never quite connect.
Some of it reminds me of the song "Institutionalized" by the band Suicidal Tendencies back in the 80s... here's a taste:
"They say they're gonna fix my brain
Alleviate my suffering and my pain
But by the time they fix my head
Mentally I'll be dead
"I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
"They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself"
Great song! You have to listen to it to truly appreciate it, though. If you like them, you can also listen to any American punk from the late 1970s, early 1980s. Suggestions include Fear, X, Circle Jerks, Alice Bag Band.
But your style seems to be leaning towards rap/hip hop just a little bit more? A lot like Linkin Park, the song "In The End." Or maybe Sublime, or even Staind, Disturbed, Cold, Nothingface. Only Sublime and Linkin Park are "hip-hoppy" in that group, though. The others are a little harder.
Lyrically, you might get some inspiration from Bob Dylan. I know, it sounds like I just made a total left turn, but seriously, don't _listen_ to him... read his lyrics. Study them like the teachers made you study poetry. Look for the cool hidden stuff; it's there, and it's surprising how bleak it can be. Here's a sample from "Desolation Row":
"Cinderella, she seems so easy
'It takes one to know one,' she smiles
And puts her hands in her back pockets
Bette Davis style
And in comes Romeo, he's moaning
'You Belong to Me I Believe'
And someone says, 'You're in the wrong place, my friend
You better leave'
And the only sound that's left
After the ambulances go
Is Cinderella sweeping up
On Desolation Row."
Good luck!

Sorry to say this but I think these lyrics could be good but very over-used. It is more rap than poetic. It just sounds like a cross between the words of all the crap around just mushed together.

Pretty decent. Might be outside your normal box but you might want to check out Henry Rollins. (BLACK FLAG) it's angry most of the time. But his poetic style deserves a fair shake.
