I had to go though this process for several biology classes and learned by constant practice. Carry the cards with you and practice while standing in line, riding a bus, eating meals, any time you can pull out the cards and review.

Whenever I have a long list of stuff to remember, I usually make up flash cards, and also I make up silly rhymes with the groups of things that go together.
