The smallest size tampons are usually marked for the lightest flow or teenage or soemthing like that.
The trick to inserting them in properly is to use them first time during your biggest flow. They should slide in easely with the blood acting as lubrication (yukky, but true).
If you need a bit more help, then try putting a little KY jelly on the end of the tampon and then inserting it.
You need to relax, and be prepared to try a few times before you get it right.
The main reason for a tampon hurting is that you have out it in at the wrong angle or it is not in right. The daigrams on the leaflet in the box will show you how to put it in better than I ever can. Every woman can wear tampons but it just takes a few times before you get it right. Even after about 12 years of using them, I occasionally get tampons that aren't in right and are painfull to have in, all I do is take them out, use a towel for a while, and then if I want to, try another. The KY jelly thing is good if I don't manage to put one in the first time but I'm going swimming and I have to wear a tampon.

And using a tampon has NO part to play in your virginity. A virgin is someone who has not had sexual intercourse, and will remain so until they do.

Hope it works for you.

i kno that using tampons for the first time can hurt like hell what i would use for the very first time is the junior absorbancy that would best fit you and it would be the smallest..and the key is to relax when your putting it in..remember that the vagina does not go straight up so kinda slant it towards your back..and you only stick it far enough so that the string hangs out so that you can take it out..if you feel compfortable you should ask your mom and older sister or any other older female you feel compfortable with to help you..well i hope this answer helps you..

im sure there are directions on the box that tell u how to insert a tampon, and as far as some of the other answers on here, no u dont suffocate from tampons but u should never sleep with one in or have one in for longer then six hour or you could get toxic shock syndrome

Try the light day tampons... they are smaller and shouldn't hurt. You should insert it all the way so just the string is hanging out, don't worry you can't lose it up there :) Tampons are ten times better than those honkin pads!

LOL... man! I remember those days.. hehehehe... try the tampons by tampax that are juniors or slender. You may have just used a... erm.... a tad bit too large of an absorbency level.

Trust me.. I think this has happened to all younger ladies for the first few years when they start using tampons. : p Its just one more thing we are blessed to deal with. *wink*

well you got to squat and relax. If your tense its not going to work. you stick it in and then you take push in the stick into the other stick. and then you take it all out except the cotton and string. It hurts if you don't do it right. so you just got to relax and stick it in far enough and then you shouldn't feel anything. I don't know how they can get stuck. Its been said they never could get stuck if you do it the right way. Just let the string dangle out. that is how you get them out.

Try the junior sized ones. Those shouldn't hurt, but if they do, you shouldn't be using tampons.

If your 13, I dont think you should be using tampons. Most likely your a virgin, and you are breaking your hymen - thus the source of pain. Just stick to pads like your momma taught you. You dont want to lose your virginity to a tampon now do you?

the trick is putting it in the right possition and you wont know it is there. Make sure it is deep enough and also the right size sometimes to small it just as bad a as to big
