When you chose features for your avatar, did you do so with yourself in mind, or did you choose totally different from your own looks?

Both. On one Yahoo account I went for fun, fantasy and wishful thinking. On another one I went for realism. It is hard though they do not have a lot of ugly fat guys models.

I tried to make it look as much like me as possible. There weren't that many choices. I just didn't feel comfortable posting a real picture of myself on here. I know someone who did that and has had a lot of disturbing attention!
I do think it looks like me, although I very rarely ever wear pigtails in real life, that part I chose because it fits my personality. The eyes are not quite as round as mine either, and I've been told I should've chosen a shade darker on my skin. Other than that, it's pretty darn close!
Maybe you have a twin out there that you just didn't know about!

Avatars are cartoon characters. I chose mine with me in mind and I liked the way it looked.

Personally, I suppose my avatar looks the way I see myself...always excepting the butterfly wings...LOL

i choose an avatar that resembles me. i wear eyeglasses (im blind without them). my skin is fair, and i have big brown eyes. (well not really that big). in my avatar (the whole body) i dress "professionally" -- right now the weather is hot so i wear jeans and shirt. but in school, i usually wear black slacks, plain-colored top and my favorite black coat.

Myself, of course...
But, alas, there are many avatars that look alike just like there are people that look (vaguely) alike - dark eyes, short hair, dark hair, etc.

pretty much like me but the hair varies in my avatars.length wise anyway...I have long hair,but choose to look different to break monotony...hair & eye color are true,Not sure how tall she is so like to think shes 5' like me..I am more heavy than she is..I'm 142..shes about what..85 pounder?..lol..
