Maybe have a family dancing night inside the bar and the fee is seven dollars per adult (childern 13 and under are free). Also people 13 and under get free drinks.
Go get lots of money, get people happy and drunk!

A "special" may not be the answer. Take a look at your bar from the perspective of the family traveler.

Most bars are dark, a little dank, and offer nothing for kids.

Consider repositioning your bar as a "family entertainment center." How? Strike a balance and create a place where younger kids, teens and parents will be able to peacefully coexist.

Here are some ideas: Dial back the booze and set up your big screen with video games and host nightly tournaments. Offer local teen clubs a safe place to meet so they can plan outings & events. Set up a well-lit reading area with comfy chairs. Check your music selections to make sure it's not totally lame with the kid-crowd.

Don't forget to capitalize on this new market by creating high-margin, kid-friendly drinks and snacks (smoothies, for example).

Good luck and have fun!

What is the atmosphere like in the bar? Is smoking allowed? I'm a mom of two little kids and I wouldn't bring my boys into a bar. But if the hotel I was staying at had some kind of free day care service, I would definitly head for the bar!! It doesn't even have to be free. Maybe a lifeguard and babysitter service at the pool? Or make the resturant/bar kid friendly.

Kids in a bar? That's not going to go over well. BUT, parents are always looking for places that serve kids meals that are healthy (anything that puts carrots and dipping sauce, or cut fruit and NOT french fris as the side dish) and economical (under $5). If you have TV, then put some mild cartoons on there. Pass out some coloring mats and cheapo crayons...and just wait. If you build it, they will come. oh yeah - Balloons, balloons and more balloons. Kids spot them 900 miles away.

How about advertising a kid's menu - some kind of cheaper food and drink that is suitable for kids? Another thing would be to have contests for tickets to local attractions. Oh, and some bars have popcorn machines - that is popular with both kids and adults. Come to think of it, have you tried having a finger-food buffet?

Here's an idea; create some kind of specialty drink- for kids. Non-alcoholic of course, that will give the parents a reason to come in & buy "A" drink (you don't want to get them loaded of course- they might have to drive those kids to Wallyworld!). Good luck!

Doesnt seem like a bar would do well in a family oriented hotel, might be better off marketing it as a restaurant...........that serves alchohal.
Give it restaurant feel

Put a sign outside the hotel.
Put ads in people's hotel rooms.

Try to offer kid oriented food. This way the kids can eat fun food while mom or dad can have their drink.
