39 weeks and 2 days today, 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. As the doc was checking for dilation and effacement she went ahead and stripped my membranes without warning (damn that hurt). Has anyone done this, and what's the success rate for those of you who have had it, because I sit here and probably half the time over exaggerate the pain I'm going through with every contraction since I'm sitting here waiting for labor to begin. I know all of our bodies respond differently but I still would like to here stories.

Yeah! It hurt like hell! But only the moment he did it. Your doc's hoping that will bring the baby's head further down in the birth canal & your labor will begin to be effective. If not, he has to watch out for infection. You'll be fine. Once you start dilating, you'll have the baby soon. if you really feel the pains in your low back - this is good. Hope you deliver a fine, healthy baby soon!

Heard and read that it works great. Average time to start labor is anywhere from 6 hours too two days after having it done. Most with in the first 24 hours if your body is ready. Sounds like yours is good luck tonight and hope all goes well.

My friend had this done two times and didn't go into labor until two weeks later.

It worked for me! I had it done on my due date and that night I went into labor so it does work.
