You can get reported (and did, apparently) for breaking the rules of conduct. I'm sorry this happened to you, since I've seen you around on Answers and you seem really nice, but what can you do? With people like the Ednas around, we're all going to be reported some time. I'm surprised I haven't yet been penalized by the Big Boys at Yahoo, since some of my answers (the ones I posted while sleep-deprived) have been slightly snarky.

Intriguing issue. I thought we were only supposed to report truly egregious posts and questions. Inciting prejudice, pornographic questions and/or responses -- that sort of thing.
On the other hand, this is a Q&A forum and anything that is not a legitimate question or a genuine attempt to answer is probably outside the bounds of the rules. Perhaps next time you say hello and ask if everyone is okay you can offer some insights into how to work toward being okay, too.
You can also include links to websites that will help those you were worried about resolve their problems.
That should cover the bases quite well.

they reported you because you were being chatty. yes that is a reason to be reported. Maybe they also thought saying hello wasn't really a question. That's another reason to be reported.

I haven't but who cares? As long as YOU know what your true intentions are, then everybody else's opinion doesn't matter...reported or not. Keep on being nice. There aren't a lot of genuinely nice people left you know?

This site is for questions and answers - I guess you can also get reported for not actually asking a question - but I don't know for sure.

No, haven't.
That is too bad, I would rather it happen to mean people. And it is -10 points now too. Ouch.
But it is more of following their rules. They probably considered your question as not really a question, but more just chat. And chat is specifically listed as a no-no.
