I know that Sociology and Cultural Anthropology are very similar. I heard that Sociologist and Cultural Anthropoligst can do the same things.Like one post said that Cultural Anthropologist can study graffiti and Sociologist can go study rural areas. So i'm not sure what would be better to major in.Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance

I prefer cultural anthroopology. The view of society is better. It takes the entire environment both past and present into consideration giving to more accurate assessment. I believe that sociology is a part of cultural anthropology but not the reverse.

For you and Gemini23, if you are looking at an eventual PhD, it doesn't matter either way given that you will be evaluated by the literature you publish. The differences methodologies are starting to be valued to make what they call convergence in the theories, or to weaken the less applicable theories in all of the fields.
If you are in undergrad, or even masters level and are obsessing over this, whichever field you choose will offer a good platform should you wish to procede to the next level of education in the other.
As far as locations for study, you can do either in either locations.

Good luck to both of you.

I'm in the same position myself except I'm studying both Psychology and Sociology. Nature vs. Nurture. It's very interesting. Anyway my suggestion to you is to do a Double Major in both subjects or Major in one and do a Minor degree in the other one. It's all up to you as to how you want to go about doing it.

Personally, having studied psychology, anthropology and sociology, they are all very similar. I chose anthropology because it can cover a broader range as opposed to sociology which studies society. Psychology to me is people looking to label everything that is not "normal" as defective and anthropology seeks to understand without judgment. I love anthropology.

The greatest chance is that you'll end up teaching people who are wondering exactly the same thing you are.

Each profession can do pretty much whatever it chooses if the practitioner is dynamic enough. It's a matter of what you are, not your specific label.
