I used to use a daily facial cleanser but it made my skin break out really bad. Is it a bad idea to wash my face with bar soap?

you do need something gentle for your face. its the most exposed part of your body. you should never compromise with what you use on your face. it will show as time goes by. I dont thinkyou need to spend a lot of money on cleanser. I use this stuff my dermatologist recommended its gentle to cleanse the face. and I use and acne cleanser over the areas that I break out. I spend about 4 or 5 bucks on each. you just have try out different products to see what works. please dont use a bar of soap that is used for the body that is not good for you delicate skin on your face.

I found regular bar soap too harsh for my face. I don't know what daily facial cleanser you've been using. I tried many facial wash, and my favorite is Body Shop tea tree oil facial wash. It comes out the bottle as light foam. Tea tree oil has some natural antibacterial properties, and the cleanser is not too harsh on my skin, and I haven't had any break out for a while. Give this a try if you haven't tried it already.

It's not bad to wash your face with bar soap because soap, essentially, just breakdown the oil on your skin. If you have sensitive skin however, then I would recommend a more hypoallergenic, dye free, fragrance free soap like Cetaphil. Most facial cleansers have added dyes, alcohols, and fragrance that will dry out and irritate your skin. In addition to washing, you should dry off by dabbing with a clean face towel and use a light moisturizer after-wards.

It's not really bad, but it does strip out all oils in your skin. Try using a mild cleanser by Neutrogena. Sometimes the reason your face breaks out after using a cleanser is because it did strip out all the good oils and that in turn causes your skin to produce even MORE oils to make up for what was stripped off and more oils equals acne. So try using something mild next time.

No its not a bad idea, but the bar of soap really wont clean your skin as good as other cleansers. But i do recommend Oatmeal soap, or cocoa butter, they are both bar soaps! And then after washing your face should use "Lubriderm" (lotion).

That happened to me a lot, so for a month, this is what I did:

Cotton balls wet with alcohol. About 5 of those, cleaning your entire face - even by your hairline.

Cotton balls wet with witch hazel. About 3 of those, all over your entire face.

2.5% benzoperoxide (www.acne.org) solution over my face until it was absorbed.

Oil of Olay sensitive skin lotion as a moisturizer.

I did this nightly and my face cleared up beautifully. Now I still do that on occasion, but use Dove Calming Night wash for my face. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's actually enjoyable... you can do it even while you sit in front of the TV - and you'll be amazed at how much dirt alcohol will pull off your face.

Soap will dry your skin. There are cleansers that are hypoallergenic or noncomedic.

well depends on ur skin...some soaps dry out your skin...what you need is an oil free face wash...then use astringent to take the excess oil off your skin and you should be fine...
