I heard an interesting radio prog on the bike. It said that as soon as it was invented it allowed the british gene pool to spread out a little.
Most people were breeding with others from their own area. As soon as the bike came along, it allowed people to go greater distances and stopped us all having the sort of probs you get when cousins marry!

From a pollution point yes guess it was, but Jesus its freezing going out on one on a winters morning don't you think, maybe the best thing ever invented hasn't actually been invented yet!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of the bicycle, but I've gotta say that the light bulb, the computer chip, and the toilet are the big three for me. Just imagine life without any one of those three...

No. I think telephones were better. They save peoples lives all the time. Whereas the bicycle has killed and injured many.
But phones are not the best either!!!

well if its the best invention of the bickle i would have to say the padded seat comes in top three...but best invention in what centery, surely with out light we would have to much darkness to invent anything, including the bike,
