It may be acceptable in some circles. But, there may be others who think not - and in this situation they may try to rearrange your face!! So I think Stewie it may be best long term to NOT use the the word. Otherwise, in the words of the Kaiser Chiefs, I predict a riot!!!

Personally I don't think so, but I'm Black British and don't use the the word amongst any of my Black friend's...that's maybe because I don't have a great deal of them, but the ones I do associate with I have no reason to use it, so the word I feel has less significance when used here, even though it is offensive. The way I see it, I'll first look at the person that's used the word and as I would judge myself - from experience -as having a good grasp of people, I should be able to gauge why it may of been used, by taking into account who I was with, what area I was in and what I was doing, to help decide whether to have sympathy for the person, or beat them up side the head lol.Since the word originated in the US and has roots to the slave trade you saying such a thing would never be appropriate.

HOWEVER, the word "N!GGAAAAA" could be used possibly AND THAT IS A VERY MOOT POINT LIKE SUBJUCTIVE POSSIBILITY!

"N!GGER", NEVER...YOU MAY LIVE TO REGRET IT!

Take Eminem as an example, he has become a world leader in a genre that is dominanted by Blacks, where the the word is thrown about as often as diapers in the trash, but he can get away with it...why...maybe because he has genuinely lived through a lot of the ups and downs disadvantaged blacks have to go through, so has in a way earned some leway to get away with using it liberally, but I don't know you or your background, or where you come from.My understanding is that the word "N!GGA" has been adopted as a colloquial saying to refer to a friend or acquaintance and is used to such an extent that it almost dampens the word "N!gger" that is used in a derogatory way, therefore reinventing the meaning and making it less offensive. The way it is said though is what makes it offensive!Look at it this way would you like your Black friends calling you a "h0nky" or "cracker"?Another thing... why would you want to call them "N!ggers" to begin with?

Anyway, to add a bit of humor to my train of thought, here's a clip from the comedic genuis of Dave Chappelle.

Yeahhhh, What.Yeahhhh, Whatt!!!

Calling anyone a n!gger will never be socially acceptable. It's a demeaning word that originates from slavery, race hatred and the injustices of mankind.

Using the word is just a cynical reminder of the very worst man can do and a way for rappers to get things to rhyme and sound controversial.

As a guy, I understand we tend to have nicknames for each other. It's a kinda male bonding sort of thing. I'm sure you can think of something more original, less offensive and wittier.

No.

I can only just use the term 'bird' with my female friends if I'm using it 'ironically' or for effect. A man can't do it without being seen as deeminging women. Same goes for ******. Blacks can use it amoungst themselves, but as you're not part of that club you can never claim the word.

Personally, I don't believe it is. Adversely, it's not okay for them to call you racial slurs as well. There is a a book title "N!gger" and it is written by a black professor. VERY informative and intriguing.

One of my best friends is white and he never calls me that. If you were really respectful to your black friends, you would know not to call them that, or anyone for a matter a fact.

NO, Never, ever. This term is totally offensive and no longer has a place in any society - and as long as people like you continue to use it, it will never be where it belongs - extinct

Possibly, since acceptable and non-acceptable have a way of changing every few years.

If they are truly your friends you might get away with it (ask their opinion). But, in general you had better be able to out run any African-American that you refer to with the N word.
