He needs sunlight or the light from a special reptile bulb like repti-sun every day. You can buy the fluorescent bulb at the pet store and save money by buying the fixture to hold it at the hardware store. He needs a warm enclosure with one end warmer than the other so he can adjust his temperature. The best way to do this is with a heat lamp, a heat rock can cause severe skin burns. He would also love a swim in the bathtub everyday. It will help him exercise and shed his skin when he molts.
He should be on a diet of about half vegetables, half dark green leaves like kale, romaine and dandelion. He should have a small amount of fruit every day like one grape cut up or a small piece of apple or banana. Feed him more than he eats in a day and throw out the leftovers. Then you can be sure he is getting enough. An easy way to get a good variety of veggies and greens is to buy frozen mixed vegetables and mesclun mixed lettuces. Never feed iceberg lettuce ( the kind Mc Donald's uses on hamburgers) it has no food value and may cause diarrhea.

Iguanas should be allowed time in natural sunlight every day, it is extremely beneficial for them. If you believe your iguana is unhappy I recomment trying to find some basic care information on the internet, and make sure you are providing adequate food (most people think iguanas only eat lettuce and crickets- WRONG), heat, and a large enough enclosure. Good luck!

Yes , They use sunlight to help process nutrients in their food . You might also try a good reptile vitamin . You should have a heat rock and do not use any kind of wood chips as bedding , Use indoor/outdoor carpetting in it's cage .Make sure that it has plenty of room to move around in , if not it's limbs may atrophy ( it will lose the use of the muscles in it's legs ) .do not feed it ice-berg lettuce , as it has no vitamins . Try a leaf lettuce such as romaine ,and also include fruits .

Take it out in sun they love it, don,t put out in direct sun though it needs a shady spot. and give it a bowl of water. Iguanas like to see things and be out and around people even like to roam free in a room that is safe for it they like to knock things over.
