Two Fallopian Tubes are fine tubes connected to the uterus with fimbriated ends are along the ovaries. The purpose of fallopian tube is to catch (with the fimbriated ends) the mature ovum from the ovary and allows the "travel" of the sperm cell via uterus. When the ovum and sperm cells meet on the fallopian tube fertilization happens. The fertilized ovum then normally implants on the endometrium of the uterus.

ok , the tube itself is used for fertalization in the first bend of it (called the ampula) and then the fertalized (or unfertalized) egg is transported to (takes about 10 days) the uterus where it either stays implanted or doesnt, depending on fertalization and hormonal release (this is how preganacy tests work btw)...having a direct communication between the ovary and the uterus can also let bacteria (in the case of PID) go back up and destroy a womans ovaries... and thats what fallopian tubes do

Fallopian tubes make it possible for an egg to travel from the ovary to the uterus during ovulation. If the egg is fertilized, it implants in the uterine lining.
