The crank-case breather tube also blows off occasionally. Is this related to the oil tank problem?

I think you have a heat problem, but the breather tube could be something else...sorry...

Increased pressure in the oiling system could be a problem with the piston rings. Here's how it works: When the piston compresses the fuel/air mixture some of the pressure blows between the cylinder walls and the piston rings causing a spike in pressure in the crankcase. Obviously your breather isn't working or the pressure would be vented out that way. Another symptom of "blow-by" is bluish smoke in the exhaust.

You've' got too much oil in the system. When you drain the oil for a change, if your engine isn't totally warmed up, you'll have almost a full quart still in the system . When you add the 4qts. of oil to refill the system, you'll overfill the system. When you rev the engine, you'll blow the dipstick out because of the added volume.

check oil pump hoses, oil pump (return side), crankcase breather and all associated vents and lines. im willing to bet its in the plumbing or breather not aligned (timed).

Blow by sounds like your problem. Your sporty may need rings! Or an engine rebuild.
