I just came back from Negril and did not see/hear anything about this. Not sure if dophins even come close to the island.

If you want a great day trip there is a local named Henry, he has a boat you will see him outside the resorts swim lines. It's a big yellow boat w/a canopy cover on it...swim up to him and work a deal for you and your party. It will be way more fun than swimming w/the dolphins. We had 10 ppl and we paid for a day on the boat, we had food (freshly caught that morning), beer, and the best snorkeling ever. Well worth it!!

You can swim with the Dolphins. I believe it is in Ocho Rios. It has various prices, depending on whether you want to just pet them or really swim with them. The cost of swimming with them is around $100-. If you go to the Jamaica websites, you can find less expensive dolphin encounters. I only checked into it slightly when I was there, and was turned off by the price. Well, actually, my wallet was turned off.
I am hoping that next year when I go back that I will have the opportunity to swim with the dolphins.

Dolphins are not the friendly animals you see on TV or at aquariums. If you approach on in the wild it will most likely get away from you, bight you (hard), or knock you into the middle of next week with it's tail.

Good luck.
