OK, I am fullterm 38 plus weeks. i went to the Dr's today and they said my water was very thin and if she could legally she could put her finger up there and easliy break my water. BUT due to laws she can't. SO she said that there are ways to break your own water but she couldn;t say because of the law etc...This is my fourth and I have major essays due all next week. SO I was hoping to go into labor by this weekend. Has anyone ever broke their own water or knew of ways for it to break??? thanks

If she said you can stick you finger up there then try that or sex. Or you can soak in the tub for about an hour and that should help, it helped with my pregnancy. I soaked for about an hour and a half, went to bed, and my water broke in the middle of the night,

Hey, you probably wont get any work done with a newborn around, so you might wanna keep it in there, lol. No I'm kidding they sleep quite a bit, at least some do

How will you get essays done with a newborn? Spend this time doing your essays, not trying to force your baby out early. The baby is much easier to care for right now while s/he is still inside you. If you have a baby this weekend, you'll have LESS time to get your essays done.

Trying to break your own water could introduce infection and put both you and your child in danger. I think your health and your baby's health and safety are far more important than any essay.

EDITED TO ADD:
If you are 3 cm, have a lot of sex this weekend and see if that jumpstarts labor. Semen can ripen the cervix and orgasm can bring on labor.

i've never heard of it being against the law to induce labor or to break a woman's water.

i grew up in PA and i shadowed an OB/GYN a few times and i watched him break a woman's water by using a wand device with a little barb on the end. just a little nick and her water broke.

i'm so confused right now.....

anyway, i've heard that sex, walking, bumpy car rides, certain massages, like foot massages, can help induce pregnancy.

good luck and just let nature take it's course. somehow i think if your professors know that you gave birth they will give you extensions on your essays. i went to penn state and i never had a professor not help a student when they had a good reason for missing an assignment.

take care.

Walk. A LOT!! That's an old wives' tale to induce labor, but it works. At the hospital I used to work at, they always had the maternity patients walking up and down the halls. If you are that close, one good contraction should break your water. Good Luck!

Let nature take it's course!

If you must, you can buy "wands" or devices designed specifically for this purpose. You want to be extremely cautious of doing this though. Remember that your baby's head is right there and his/her skull is VERY soft.

Is your cervix already dialating? Once you break your water you are starting a timer and there is no turning back.

You're too dumb to have a child...let him stay in there. That's what we did with my illegitimate son- gave him a game boy and a toaster and he's still living comfortably in the womb after 15 years. I'm concerned about teaching him to drive, though.

What state do you live in? When my ex had our son, the doctor broke her water because she was past her due date.

my doctor always broke my water, so I guess the 'laws' have changed since I had kids. Best of luck to you!!

i'm not sure how to physically break it, but have you looked into shiatsu massage? if you can find someone who knows what they're doing, certain points ont he body can cause a woman to go into labor, usually within 24 hrs. my teacher does it. she a massage therapist.
