Avoid buying one, at the moment there is new tech coming down the line from sanyo that uses small tubes in the back and has a solid screen and when the screen goes it will be just a matter of changing the little tube that has gone, something like a TV now

prices are always around the same in stores, go with Circuit City because experience tells me Best Buy, you buy a guarantee and they change the rules a million times before they fix the darn TV. Circuit City has the best Customer Service plus a lemon law if it breaks more than certain times they give you your money back even if the plan is almost about to run out. Remember that for your TV to get High Definition your cable company or satellite has to provide the service...It makes no difference if you buy a HD TV and you don't get the service, you get the same picture quality... If you buy a projection TV, buy the extra guarantee, bulbs are very expensive...
Oh and more importantly you pay for the TV but there are extra charges in Surround sound system, speaker mounts, wires. charge protectors, So pencil in extra money for all those extra accessories.. Good Luck

I would avoid projection tvs. If you go just a little of to the side of one the picture will be nasty. Plasmas pics are much better. Plasmas do not "burn in", unless you are completely careless. You can't leave the tv on for hours, on a channel that has for example, a ticker on the bottom or a tv station sybol in the corner. Putting the plasma on overly bright light will help burn in. Plasmas are cheaper than lcd. And show better black levels (coloring).

Avoid Plasma. They deteriorate (lose quality, leak, etc..)
And, plasma get funky at high altitude. Also, if you watch like, CNN or FOX NEWS, the ticker at the bottom gets burned in and you can see it when the TV is off and when watching other channels. Get LCD or rear-projection. they dont do any of this.
