I would be deeply concerned as to what would happen if one was to have too tight a hold on the other.
Watch them closlely and maybe try time outs. Spanking them is only teaching them to hurt each other in other ways.
I would very much stay firm and when they act like this find a place in the room you are in and have them sit staring at the wall or even at each other. They may talk or move. They need to sit and wait. Calm down time, time out what ever you coin it.
Then I would make a chart that is point based. Each time they do this to each other they loose lots of points. I know your 4 year old will understand it if you make it simple enough. They only get rewards if they earn a certain amount of points. Try it for a month.
Takes practice and consistancy with children to make anything work.
Good luck!!

OMG! I have a 4yr old and a 6yr old my self, and they love each other. You really need to separate them from each other and don't let them spend time together, but before you do that you need to give them a big wooping and tell them why you are wopping them, then cut off all privileges they have until they learn to love and miss each other. Just talking to kids and spearing the rod, does not help. You must have a combination to make them understand your point. Good Luck!

Don't leave them alone until YOU can get help. Who is the parent here? Don't talk to them, order them to never do it again, and give them punishments that will wound their pride, or bottoms each time they fight. They are 4 and 6, You should have taught them right from wrong by now. Don't tell them its not nice, tell them it is against the law, and you must punish them. You must punish the one who inflicts injury on the other, each time it happens, and immediately.

Whip there @$$e$ with a belt or choke them both. Or let them die. Or hold them in a cage or cuff there hands. That should teach them a lesson.
HAVE YOU BEEN LETTING THEM WATCH SHOWS WERE THEY WHIP EACH OTHERS @$$E$? YOU WOULD BE A BAD PERSON IF YOU ACUTALLY DID THAT. OR DID YOU GIVE THEM RATED M OR AO GAMES? THEY COULD GO TO JUVEE SO STOP THEM NOW. TAKE REPOSIBILITY!!! OR JUST GIVE THEM TO THE POUND IF YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! IT'S CALD PARENTAL CONTROL!!!!!!!!
MONTIOR WHAT THEY DO! PUT CAMERAS AROUND THE HOUSE! LOCK SOME PROGRAMS ON TV! LOCK UP BAD VIDEO GAMES. AND TEACH THEM A LESSON FOR CHRISMAS SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mom had to deal with 11 of us and she just went with the survival of the fittest way of doing things..... we all did survive, with a few scars of course. Kids have to learn to work things out on their own. You have to draw the line and set the guidelines though for what is acceptable and respectable behavior between your children and discipline them accordingly when they cross that line (hitting, pushing, etc.). There should be a rule in place saying no one touches anyone without the other one's permission for starters. They will learn to demand for themselves and give respect as well if you teach them.

Monitor them very closely while they are playing. This really isn't healthy. If you leave them alone one day, who knows what could happen? Kids don't know any better and when they say they want each other to do, you have a problem on your hands.

Talk to them and explain not only that its not nice but what death is. Explain that if something like that were to happen that person is gone forever and there is no taking it back. Sounds like they don't fully understand death. You might want to look into counseling. Plus watch out for what they are watching on t.v.
