The possibility of Sunnis and Shiites united is the same as muslims (any kind) and jews uniting. They hate each other. The Sunnis consider the Shiites to be infidels.

More US citizens died in Washington DC this year than in Iraq. We are there because if we leave the middle East will fall under the conrtrol of Islamo-Nazis who will likely try to nuke us or our children if we leave.
