A Holocaust was a Roman invention to heat the floors of their houses 2,000 years ago. They used wood, water and pipes to pipe hot water under their floors, heating up the floors in the winters and mornings to make the home a warmer and more livable environment.

HOWEVER, much like a PRESSURE COOKER, the Holocaust could on rare occasions EXPLODE destroying everything and everyone around it. This is one of the reasons its name was given to such an event that was SO DESTRUCTIVE IN NATURE!

So, when 6 million Jews, 100's of thousands of gays, 100's of thousands of Gypsies and the same for other classes of peoples that the Nazi's just didn't LIKE, what better name?

The holocost was the attempted genocide of the Jews and other groups during world war 2 by hitlar. Roughly 6 million jews, gypsies, and homesexuals, etc were murdered by the SS (Hitlar's personal death squads) and the German army. Its hard to get an exact number due to the fact that most of the bodies were burned in huge ovens before the Allies liberated the camps.

its means :mass slaughter of Jews. The guy behind it all was know as Adolf Hitler b/c of his hatred of Jews. He blamed them for everything (loss of WW1) and so on. he believed the Aryans were the perfect race (blond hair, blue eyes, German) what he would do is have others do the dirty work for him by putting lots of Jews in 'ghettos' (small cramped area), concentration camps, gas chambers or just shooting them. this was known as a genocide (entire killing of an entire race). there was also the "Kristallnacht" (night of broken glass) when the Nazis (Hitler's group) rampaged throughout town and destroyed Jewish property..i can just go on and on

the literal meaning of holocaust is: something consumed by fire.
But most people know it as the mass killing of jews in World War 2 by Hitler's army. They were put in concentration camps, work camps, and killed brutally.
