I agree with you. I think it is the same with most things. The sellers use the excuse of rising costs for them but their costs rise by a fraction of what they add on to customer charges.

The end-to-end suppliers (from well to wall-socket, like Gas de France, or well to forecourt, like BP and Shell) have huge profits. The boutiques, who have to buy their energy on the traded markets then sell on to customers, are making naff all profit. That's companies who specialise in, say, renewable electricity. The price that Shell will sell gas for to you is set by the price that they could get elsewhere for the same gas - like in the traded markets. The traded markets are bouyant right now because of the emergence of a new insatiable customer - China.
One good thing: these huge energy prices ARE causing people to save energy and invest in new technology. It might not be so obvious to the man in the street but industrial energy consumers are doing more to reduce than they ever did before. That has a (slight) damping effect on prices.
But right now, oil production is (just about) keeping pace with consumption. In about five years we hit peak oil, when production worldwide starts to go down, while demand just keeps rising. If you think it's expensive now, you ain't seen nothing yet

Energy companies in the United States do not control the price of crude oil. Oil is a world wide commodity used everywhere and produced in many locations. The U.S. imports most of the oil we use.
U.S. companies are making larger profits on the oil they sell but they are not the reason prices have risen. Look to the increased demand in China and risk premiums because of world tensions right now.

With this administration as crooked as this one is, how and why do you think big business should have morals. This is only an extention of the greedy and dishonest regime in the White House.
Ya, Clinton may have lied about a few B___jobs but atleast he kept big business in check. The fact of the matter, big business will screw the American public every chance they get especially if the administration backs them up.

British gas have been making a loss selling gas to domestic customers.
Shell have been making massive profits on the back of the excuses for price hikes.
Some people shaft you, some people don't.
This makes slinging your indignant bile much harder work, and offers some camouflage to the lowlife scum out there.
Such is the way of the world.

That is what happens when you have the fox in charge of the hen house. Nothing will be done as Bush and his family are invested in oil and they are enriching themselves over the lives of our service people and the Iraqi's. It really is all his fault he created instability in the mid east for no reason other then to get him and his richer.

expensive Blades, we've been in contract in the previous. As a former Realtor, I watched with interest as John Boehner defined sections of the capability bill that surpassed interior the residing house the former day with the help of 8 Republicans This bill has provisions that ought to knock out close by development codes and agreements between sources proprietors and their institutions. It demands a retraining of real sources Appraisers and provides them new responsibilities to evaluate your place in line with Federal standards. Now, the residing house you sell would desire to be dropped at Federal standards as a manner to end sale. only staring on the panels and committees and human beings had to this bill is a Jobs attempt in itself. communities would be required to hire inspectors. development codes would be skipped over. the government will tell builders what standards to fulfill, what products are appropriate, and value you residing house to work out if it adheres to government rules. Your home equipment, would be coated interior the pre-sale assessment, maximum in all probability accomplished at your price. that's a tiny part of this bill. i'm specific it is known to be so unimportant as to be thoroughly missed. it is going to upload considerable price. what's so extensively incorrect with contemporary residing house standards that they choose the federal government intrusion? returned, India and China do no longer would desire to abide by using the cap on carbon. we can would desire to purchase carbon credit to run companies, yet how are they saved, how are they tabulated? This nonsense only sends tens of millions if no longer billions of greenbacks in a much off places united states of america. in step with probability companies who come across the mire of purple tape will discover it much less complicated to open in Canada or Mexico or everywhere however the united statesA. all of us would desire to call our Senators and tell them that this bill shouldn't bypass the Senate. It became pushed by using interior the wish that we can possibly no longer have time to study it. There would desire to have been weeks of discussion despite if it became assembled at 3 o'clock interior the morning and voted on later that exact same day. isn't this a development? There are 13 hundred pages in this bill. If it wasn't for John Boehner we would have no theory what it contained. The Republicans that voted for it may well be ashamed and the Democrats who voted against it, 40 2 of them thanked for crossing lines and siding with the solid of the electorate.
