How long did it take you to read it?

And, I have to read it for school? Do you think they'll test me on it (high school)?

I read the scarlet letter for school. We did a unit on it. Its a useful book for high school. You will need it, its considered a challenging book. Books like Lord of the flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, Scarlet Letter, the handmaids tale, and other book like this one are considered a challenging high school book- or excellent high school books. You can go to bookrags.com and look at their list of books, most of the ones listed are considered high school level and are on the challenge students list. A few are banned from certain libraries. You can read a summary of each chapter online to help you better understand the book, however most kids don't read the book and look up summaries on these cliffnote types of websites. So be careful. It's a good website to help you connect with the characters and understand the symbolism and foreshadowing, etc. Check our sparknotes.com too. Each book should take you about 2 weeks to read (about a 300-400 pg book). If it takes you more don't worry, if you keep reading books, you'll get the hang of it.

That was a horrendous book. After the teachers spend several months going through all the transcendentalism, you just want to barf.

It's required reading in college and most high schools, so I wouldn't be surprised if you had to read it twice...

I don't remember how long it took to read it, because the teacher will make you read only a bit at a time.

I work in a HS and yes, The Scarlet Letter is taught and you WILL be tested on it. I read it in HS. We probably took a term to read it. It was MANY years ago!

Yup. It's medium in length but kind of dry. If it's just high school and you're not into it, focus on what you give a **** about and just see the movie or get Cliff-notes. People say that is wrong but honestly, if you don't care.....

Oh God, yes I did and it was a BORING book. Read Fahrenheit 451(not Fahrenheit 911, you uncultured douchebags) and Lord of the Flies. It's a way better read.

I liked it - It's a quick read but if you don't have enough time
go ahead and read the cliff notes or watch the movie.

it took me about 2 days (when i am into a book i like to finish it as soon as possible). they will test you on the book. i will have to reread it for class as well, and many people have told me that it is a standard class read.

Yes and I kind of liked it. 6/10

For such a famous book about adultery there is only one sex scene in the entire book and it is only one paragraph long and so subtle and full of symbolism that you need a literary degree just to notice it.

Yes, it read quick because it wasn't a book. Hawthorne really didn't like Puritans very much...
