I have a 2002 chevorlet tracker that has 2lbs. of oil pressure at idoling, oil light stays on til I reach 2500 rpms and my lifters make aloud racket if I'm not getting on it. I'm useing 20w-50 oil in hopes of quietting it down but it didn't work .What cheap mythod will help me? I've spent nearly $1300.00 trying to solve one problem after .another.It only has 105,000 miles on the car..I've heard of LUCAS OIL but don't know if this will help.Please help me I'm troubled.

replace the oil pump now would be the cheapest, cause if you don't, it's gonna get REAL expensive

It is more likely to be the bearings than the oil pump - when those wear out, the oil can't build up pressure very well. I'd either try removing the bearings and measuring the clearances, or just swapping in a junkyard engine.

First make sure the Gage isn't wrong. In your case, it's not likely, but should be checked.

A new high pressure pump will help, but it sounds like the bearings are worn, so this will only be a temporary fix.

A new motor is what you should be saving money for.

if you havent already hurt the motor change the oil pump an that should restore pressure

what to do? I don't know where you live but here is what to do: trade it in, at night, right at closing time, in the rain, with a crying baby (you may have to borrow one) they are what we call "throw away cars" don't put any more money in it. say good by and start over. really. Good luck Dave

Maybe you should just try to change your oil pump
