How liberating that was! No garter belt to fight with, no itchy impressions on the back of your thighs from sitting too long, less worry about 'something' showing that shouldn't be if your skirt flipped up... What did you remember as the best part of that great invention?

Okay - lol - for the youngsters out there, panty hose came out the mid to late 1960s. Sure, we had hosiery before that, but it was held up on our legs by nasty clamp contraptions called garters. Ick.

I'm remembering around 1969-1970 for that transition, right? The best part, of course, was being able to wear mini-skirts without your garters showing! And because of that, along came the micro-mini and then hot pants... sheesh, remember when we were wearing skirts so short that they literally barely cleared the bottom of our tushies, and we had to wear little tennis panties made up in fabric that matched our dresses or skirts because there was simply no way to keep your panties from showing?
I remember the first pantyhose being very thick and awkward fabrics, though... more like tights? We would actually wear them underneath our pretty matching tennis panties or hot pants. Come to think of it, I remember them being pretty hot and scratchy too, fabrics were not very well developed back then. Seems like we were all so confused by the transition for a while that we ended up just going bare-legged most of the time!

How hot and sweaty they are, How nasty wearing 2 pair of panties looks, How easy to get yeast infection, How nasty the opaque Lycra looks, How fast they drove half of America to bare legs.
How many men hate them, How hard it is to take a pee, How fast they are only being worn by cross dressers and grandmothers, How fast the younger generation are going back to stockings.
How stockings and a garter belt are so much more classy, and sophisticated, how sheer real stockings are, How good real stockings feel, How much fun it is to make love in them, How ugly the top of pantyhose look, How sexy a garter belt and stockings look. And I could go on to infinity.

They came out sometime in the mid-sixities I believe, at least in our area. I remember wearing my first garter belt and hose when I was 12. I thought I was a real lady. You could see all the bumps underneath the clothes and once my garters snapped and one of my hose fell down around my ankles. How embarrassing!

Ninth grade. Cheryl Vickerman and her sister Cindy ... I was dying to see their panty hose from top to bottom.
That was 1971 ... I didn't notice pantyhose too much before then. More recently, I am mesmerized by legs that are bare and the pantyhose are left at home. Do you still wear them out on the open range?

Didn't they come out like "forever" ago??? Even in the 1700's they had some sort of hoisery- men used to wear them as well. I can't remember that far back-- Oh Wait!! I wasn't alive!

I think they were available everywhere sometime in late 67 and 68. I worked my first job at Southern Bell in Atlanta in 1968 and they had a national yellow pages day that spring. We were given paper dresses made out of yellow pages and I bought YELLOW pantyhose and yellow shoes and huge yellow hoop earrings...I was HOT!! lol
