The alaskan malamute is bred for stamina, the husky more for speed. This is why they are lighter built. The whippet can outrun a greyhound becaus ethey have more stamina. Even though they are smaller.

The sled dog/larger spit are very much built for endurance but also the greyhound (and other sighthounds) are often crossed with the more robust Border Collies, terriers and cross breeds to produce 'Lurchers' that can run nearly as fast and have far more stamina and don't suffer the same problem with collapsing and overheating as their pedigree cousins do.

Er if he is called an African hunting dog then why is he not a species of dog, you could do me a favour and take my old beautiful golden retriever out with her frizz bee for a run and see how fast she runs if you like, she can outdo a collie pup and Alsatian she plays with, so hope you can keep up with her while you work out who is the fastest dog on earth.

Gray wolves. The black-backed jackal also has a tremendous amount of stamina and frequently runs prey into the ground, when it's not scavenging carrion.

Alaskan Malamute or Husky. They are both sled dogs & bred for running. Most sled dog teams consist of both kinds of dogs because the husky can run fast but the Malamute can run longer.

now, you have piqued my curiosity. i'm going to have to check it out.
i remember it was type of dog i had never heard of before and they are SOOOOO expensive. we're talking only major breeders have them.
