XXXXXXXXXXXXX Fear of the unknown I think. She's afraid to be alone. Afraid to start dating again. And maybe ever afraid that she'll never get a man again. But I say, she can do bad by herself if she's in a bad relationship. No self image, no self respect, feeling unneeded and unwanted and unloveable. That can all change if she take the step and leave. Past family history could play into this scenario. I do think the three main reasons would be low self esteem, low or no income and children. A divorce can sometimes be more traumatic to children than staying together as long as verbal or physical abuse is not present. Also some people take there marriage vows quite seriously.

most of the time people are convinced that they can "change" a person. if a woman is with an abusive man she thinks she can change him into a loving sweet man but it doesnt work that way. people who go into relationships trying to change the other person can just forget having a happy and healthy relationship.

Well it can be for various reasons. Perhaps he may have some qualities that no other person could have. Also, maybe she jsut has a feeling that she will have a good future with him. Also, if the girl happens to be a goldigger, of course she would stay with him for his money. I hope this answers your question... :)

I think the man lowers her self esteem, and she feels like she has to keep improving and that she is the reason he doesn't love her. And doesn't want to give up - Feels like a failure. When in all actuality he has just played a mind game

Usually it's low self esteem. But there are so many factors to this situation that it is hard to just answer a question that is so general.
