Start in one room, in one area and just keep cleaning like that until its all done. If its that bad you probably need to make a day or weekend out of it. The key is to clean a little at a time through the week so it doesnt get bad. Also if you have kids get them involved! They'll love you for it when they're older.

first of all you should disregard all the people being jerks and calling you lazy ect. The point of yahoo answers is to provide HELPFUL advice not to be rude. 2nd I find that it always helps me to try and organize, ie you just moved, go through your stuff the things you no longer want or need can be given to a goodwilll or a thrift store, and more importantly they will be out of your way, also get rid of garbage in this stage the less "stuff" there is the less overwhelming it will seem. After that work on one room at a time even if your not putting things away you are a least assigning them to one room, and have a general idea of where they will go....good luck
ps put on some good music it will help motivate you

Do you live on a military base? If so, you need to report to the (for lack of not knowing who) housing authority ASAP!! The military does not stand for houses to be left in a dirty condition.
If you are renting the house, you need to let your landlord know. They will be able to get in touch with the last person who lived there, and figure out why the person left the house dirty.
You could have a cleaning party. I would only invite the people who helped you to move in, or are going to help you move in. Clean one day, like today, and move in tomorrow. Everything will be all nice and sparkly clean, not to mention dry.

If you are planning on being there for awhile, just take it one box and one step at a time. Don't be overwhelmed, this is typical of what everyone goes through when they move. Good luck!!!

sounds like you are a lazy pampered slob,, wanting others to do for you but too cheap to pay for the work others do for you,, if your house wasn't so messy it wouldn't cost so much to clean!!

If you have family/friends in the area, ask them to help, make a party, out of it. Buy the beer/soda, pizza, sandwiches as a huge thank jyou to them. Thats my plan next spring when I am going to ask my family to help me pull out the carpet.
