People always use the term racist, when in reality, people don't mean to be racist they are just very stereotypical. Why can't people say "stop being stereotypical" instead of "stop being racist."

no, for example, you can say that black people are tall but not hate black people.

Being stereotypical means you fit the general stereotype of your particular race. To tell people to stop being stereotypical means you are telling them to quit acting in a way that a lot of people assume your race is like. Stop being racist is actually more accurate when you are telling someone to quit talking about you in a racist way.

Stereotyping is usually very wrong, even if your intention is not bad. Even though some of the speculations are true, they don't hold the same to every person of that race or nationality. You should see a person as an individual, because all of us are different from everyone else. Stereotyping and racial profiling is both wrong so instead of choosing which one to say, why don't you just say both??

I agree. I'm afraid, though, that in the last 15 years, the word "racist" has been substituted for "stereotypical." Good question.

No

I think racism also encompasses the need to do harm, in some form, to the race you dislike.

Stereotyping is like profiling, putting people of the same race in a category you have formed mentally. It makes you feel better ( you are in more control of the unknown)

I love these thinking questions! thanks!

How about we all stop crying like little babies about what others SAY. They are just words, and usually justified. What we should do is take it all into account, and work to improve ourselves rather than point fingers of blame at every moron that has an opinion.

All stereotypes have some basis in reality.

No, stereotyping someone is a form of prejudice, not racism. Racism is also a form of prejudice.
