You're ONLY a hypocrite if you're Very dogmatic, and then you defy your own putatively absolute values or beliefs.

I am fully entitled to believe one thing one day-- and then something completely opposite on the next, because I don't pretend to know absolutely anything. But the dogmatist does-- and to such a degree it becomes absurd that even he cannot follow what he believes so assiduously.

Also beliefs have valences and I may believe 2 opposing things at the same time-- again without being hypocritical. I may believe one forecast that says it will be cloudy, and another that it will be sunny, equally.. So I bring a coat just in case, but I'm prepared to carry it if it's too hot to wear.

A hypocrite says: It's going to be a Beautiful day-- I guarantee it!! No need for your umbrellas, it's clear sailing, enjoy your day!

And, of course, that morning he brought a Gore Tex jump suit and a golf umbrella to work, ready for the thunderstorm.

possibly all are hypocrites.
have you ever said one thing or given advice to someone and did an opposite to the advice or thing you said.
have you ever made a commitment and broke it?
This is hypocritical.
its almost like saying only some people lie.
at some point....don't all?
what a challenge......to not be a hypocrite....I accept.

A hypocrite is someone who says and advocates one thing, but lives their life in a manner completely opposite of what they are saying. An example would be a preacher who gets up to his pulpit every Sunday talking to his congregation about "Loving One Another," and then goes home and beats his wife and abuses his children.

A hypocrite is someone that says something for someone else not to do, and the person that says not to do it, does it themselves. Why are they one? Because they are doing exactly what they told the other person not to do.

A person that doesn't practice what they teach. In other words if someone tells you it's bad to run red lights, and they run lights, then they're a hypocrite.

a person is a hypocrite when they criticize or condemn someone or a group for doing something that they themselves are doing...

For example Atheists criticize Christians for pushing their beliefs on others when they (Atheists) are often doing the very same thing... that's hypocrisy...
