This should have been started with name of india itself which was given by English. Why dont you change your country name into your own regional language in the first place ?

Same reason why the american infrastructure (eg. road rules) are complete mirror reflections of the british systems.

India is called so by the rest of the world for convenience coz it has a lot of local names based on the regional languages (if u happen to know..india is a diverse country of about 28 languages and around 700 dialects, all the religions in the world and several varied cultures).

its not only india which has one name globally and is called something else locally. for example, germany is actually deustchland, holland's official name is netherlands, Spain is actually Estado Espanol...and so on..

So check your facts before you point your finger!
